Student Life

Student Life - Overview

The CIPA program is relatively small with around 150 students (approximately 75 incoming and 75 second-year fellows).  This means that everyone gets to know everyone else.  Fellows come from around the country and around the globe, and bring with them an interesting blend of professional and cultural experiences.  This makes for rich interaction both in and out of the classroom, culminating in many life-long friendships.

Community has--and always will be--a vital part of the CIPA experience.  The International Party, the biannual picnics at area lakes and waterfalls, improptu debates in the CIPA lounge, food and drinks at Rulloff's following Thursday colloquiums, professional development conferences in D.C. and New York, late-night group-project meetings...these are just a few of the opportunities CIPA fellows have for forging lasting friendships with colleagues.

Professional Student Organizations
Fellows also forge relationships and build their policy skills by leading and participating in a number of CIPA organizations.  Please click on the links below to learn more about each.

  • Women in Public Policy (WIPP): focused on facilitating the professional integration of women into public policy roles.
  • Co-Curricular Activities: includes the three student-lead activities--The Current (public policy journal), Point of View (television show), and the Colloquium Committee.
